Josh is a waterman. He has been lifeguarding since he was 14 years old in Mt Maunganui, New Zealand and the Gold Coast, Australia. He represented the Cook Islands at the 2012 Olympics for kayaking. He is the owner of two local water based tourist operations in Rarotonga Snorkel Cook Islands and Surfski Cook. In his spare time you will find him in the waves surfing the reef, swimming or snorkeling inside and outside of the lagoon, paddling a surf ski or an outrigger canoe. It is fair to say that he would rather spend his days in the waves than on land.
“Memories of my mum smothering me in thick white sunscreen put me off sunscreen for life. But the non-greasy nature of Aloe Up Sport means that it soaks in quickly and easily. I can still hold a paddle and doesn’t make you slip on your surfboard. I offer it to all our guests on our snorkel tours, its great because it is a way of educating them about the harmful effects of chemicals such as oxybenzone, which is found in some other brands. It has taken 30 years but I’ve now converted back to sunscreen. Thank you Aloe Up!” - Josh Utanga.
